Considering that Member States recognized in resolution WHA60.29 and WHA67.20 that medical devices are indispensable for health care delivery but their selection, regulation and use still present enormous issues, the Forum was held to discuss the achievements that have been made in the field and the enormous challenges for Developing Countries.

This also served as an opportunity to implement the WHO future strategy for 2030 in the framework of Universal Health Coverage and the Sustainable Development Goals, alongside the discussion on affordability of basic technologies to respond the most urgent priorities.

Prof. G. Frija, chair of the ESR EuroSafe Imaging project and co-chair of ISRQSA - which represented the International Society of Radiology - hosted a workshop on 'Medical Imaging Equipment: Global Plan For Improvement' in which he emphasized  the importance of developing regional campaigns.
